ACIP Mission

Accessing Materials for Release V
In order to make Release V available to our users as quickly as possible, we have placed the standard ACIP transcription files up on the ACIP website. Together with the release you will find a quick-reference catalog in universally readable form.

These files are available for download only, for viewing within AsiaView or equivalent text editor. Release V files are not searchable and viewable with the Release IV texts on this web site.

If you are accustomed to using the ACIP AsiaView program for viewing and searching Tibetan text either in Roman or Tibetan letters, you can incorporate the new books into your database simply by following the directions under the section in the Release IV User Manual called “Adding New Texts at a Later Date”.

To update the master catalog in your copy of AsiaView, simply follow the directions called “Adding New Texts to the ACIP Master Catalog” in the Release IV User Manual.

If you do not have a copy of the ACIP Release IV manual, you may download its entire contents from this site as PDF file http://www.asianclassics.org/research_site/docs/usermanual.pdf ( 1.55 MB ).

Inside the quick-reference catalog for Release V you will also find a new item for each text giving the path or paths that we at ACIP use in the master database to place each text in an easily discoverable subject location.

As always, the texts on the new release which are, by tradition, restricted to users who have received permission from authentic lineage holders are being offered only to those who submit a written request to ACIP indicating that they have obtained this permission, and that they agree to respect the traditional restrictions themselves. These restricted texts are indicated in the quick-reference catalog with an asterisk after the catalog number.
